Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy

Regenerative treatment designed to stimulate healing using your body’s own repair mechanisms.

Regenerative Medicine

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is an innovative regenerative therapy that uses concentrated platelets from your own blood to stimulate tissue repair.

Platelets contain growth factors that act as a signaling system within the body. When delivered directly to an area of injury, these growth factors support healing in cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and muscles that have struggled to recover on their own.

PRP is commonly used for joint pain, tendon injuries, and osteoarthritis, particularly when traditional conservative treatments have not provided sufficient relief.

The Process

How PRP Therapy Works

Blood Draw
A small sample of your blood is drawn, similar to routine laboratory testing.

On-Site Processing
The sample is processed on-site to concentrate platelets and growth factors into a high-dose preparation.

Ultrasound-Guided Injection
The concentrated PRP is injected directly into the target area using real-time ultrasound guidance for precision.

Most patients begin to notice improvement within 4 to 6 weeks, with peak results often occurring around 3 months.

Clinical Precision

High-Dose PRP Protocol

Not all PRP treatments are the same.

Research suggests that higher platelet concentrations may enhance regenerative potential. At Shield, we use a high-dose PRP preparation with a structured two-injection protocol spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart.

This approach allows us to deliver up to 20 billion platelet cells to the area of injury.

All injections are performed under real-time ultrasound guidance to ensure accurate placement and optimal therapeutic delivery.

• High platelet concentration
• Two-injection protocol

Your Visit

Procedure & Recovery

PRP appointments take approximately 45 minutes.

When you arrive, your blood is drawn and processed on-site. Once prepared, the PRP is injected under ultrasound guidance using local anesthetic to ensure comfort.

Some patients experience mild stiffness or soreness for 1 to 2 days following the procedure. Most individuals resume regular daily activity within a few days, with guided rehabilitation integrated as needed.

Your recovery plan is individualized to support safe and effective return to activity.
